Aston Villa right-back Kosta Nedeljkovic is expected to join Rangers on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy.
The obligation, which would be triggered based on appearances, is worth £4million.
The 20-year-old has held talks with Rangers manager Derek McInnes, with the Scottish club having been in contact throughout the summer.
Nedeljkovic featured in Villa’s pre-season but has been available to leave, with the club pushing to recruit in his position and provide competition to Matty Cash. The Athletic reported last week that Villa are exploring a deal for West Ham United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is among the list of options.
Nedeljkovic joined Villa in January 2024 from Red Star Belgrade, but only made 10 appearances, having spent the last 18 months on loan at RB Leipzig.
Rangers require an attacking option at right back with Dujon Sterling and Ross McCrorie more defensive-minded.
Derek McIness has been keen to strengthen the defence having only won one of his first five games in charge.
Nedeljkovic will join another Serbian in midfielder Vanja Dragojevic who moved to Ibrox this summer from Partizan.
